Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I recently read an article on this and I can relate. I'm defo harbouring misplaced hatred towards myself and especially my wife and I know it is doing me harm every day. My constant ruminating thoughts has me having to break up with my wife but when I really think of going through and doing it I cry like a baby as deep down I know I love her so much. I canappreciate all the good I have in my life but I don't FEEL it. Wife, home, job, family, friends etc it's like I would rather feel sad and wallow in self pity. My wife and family deserve better than this, I know suicide is not the answer as I tried this a while back, ended up in hospital for weeks and now I'm on anti depressants and in therapy. I'm trying so hard to focus on the positives in my life which are there, I can logically see them but there's a constant loop, story or whatever you want to call it that plays. I'm back working though and have a holiday planned, I try to tell myself every day life is good, I practise meditation, take my meds, talk etc but still don't have the FEELING life's good. Anyway just a rant I thought I needed to have as I was feeling low and my wife and family are prob sick of hearing the same shit from me all the time.

You sound angry, sad and a lot of other things. I swim in that cesspool a lot. However, if I don't give myself a chance to get some of that anger, sadness and whatever out - I CANT SEE ANY POSITIVES IN LIFE. I have spend much time in my T office beating up boxes with her safe bat - it helps to get some of these feelings out - then a get a little relief. I don't know what kind of a relationship you have with you T - if this is possible or not. Ive have never been able to MAKE myself feel better by just trying to think of positives. For me, I have to get some junk out of the way first. I feel for you. I hope you feel better soon.

It's a practice of letting things go starting with small things as little as the dishes can wait... when we hang onto things we tend to hang on to EVERYTHING and obviously that's a bit too much to handle. Hugs.

Yeah I defo have a lot goin on in my head, what my psychologist is trying to help me with is not giving any of my negative thoughts or emotions meaning, thoughts are thoughts they come and go etc I just spend so much time in my own head, thinking, analysing, ruminating etc the silly thing is I know I'm doing it and it's not doing me any good.

You got it right on the button... wallowing in self pity and feeling sorry for yourself and sad is not going to change, unless you find it in your heart to make those changes. How do you know what is good or bad for your wife? Don't you think she has a mind of her own and chooses to be with the man she loves? Do you talk to her and let her know EXACTLY how you are feeling?. Have you yet acknowledged why you are feeling this way about everyone? Once you do, you will be able to change your life around. Don't give up on yourself, or your wife. Hugs GB
