Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I stopped working because of my depression and anxiety. I want to return to school so I can get a job that is better than a retail, minimum wage job. I get about the same amount on disability, but like you said at least with a job I wouldn't have to worry about being put on hold for my money.
Thanks again!
However, a lot of people also choose to continue their education despite the financial challenges. My family is one of those. I will not bore you with my story, but if it is something you want, it is worth the struggle to get it. If I say education is one of the most important things, I usually get lashed out because many people do not get the chance to get there. As you mentioned, it gets you a better job and better pay.
I always make it long and winded I apologize. All I'm trying to say is that I admire your strength for trying to go to school despite your hardships. I will tell you this though, I would call to follow up where your cheque is. Not to nag your caseworker or whoever is in charge, but to get a date on when you will receive it. If you manage to make them tell you when you will receive it, it will help ease your mind a little and also, incase of any hang-ups with your case, it may help move it along. It's the digital age for God's sake, everything should be in the "system" and crystal clear.
I found it helpful in all my financial struggles to make everyone spell out everything to me, just so I can keep myself sane. I fought with my bank until they gave me a full report of every future repayment on my loan, including the interest. It's not that I don't know how much I borrowed and what the rate is, but when things are spelled out infront of you, and you know exactly how much and when and what, it makes you feel more in control. Like balancing your checkbooks. It doesn't necessarily mean you will spend less, but it will show you where all your money went, and make you think "oh".
Good luck with your education. I am sure that it will work out, it has to! And you will feel much more empowered for similar situations in the future once you've completed your goal.
School is important. I left a few years ago with being undecided but I need to get back to it and at least try.
I am returning to school for Practical Nursing and may only be going parttime due to the depression and anxiety.
Here we are allowed to return to school and still receive disability. that is why my loan can only cover school costs and no living expenses, which is what they screwed up on.
I can only try to go and hope I can at least do parttime. My pdoc thinks it will be good for me because it is something I'd like to do and when I'm done the pay is at least double the minimum wage here and i can also just work parttime....and still stay on disability.
