i am visiting my parents and one of their 3 cats is in heat and driving me crazy!!!! lol
i love her, she is sweet, but way too needy right now, and won't quit "talking" to me.

funny thing is this is the only time this cat will pay attention to me when i visit... normally she is standoff-ish.
Maybe a visit to the vet for a snip and clip is in order once she's out of heat.
nuch better and healthier for them also - but they can drive you crazy when they are in heat. Can't do the tom cat thing too many homeless kitties already as Piper knows too :)
You said you don't want anymore kittens so letting kitty outside is not an option.
I have a male cat, he was given to me, he's fixed. He never goes outside and I'm glad, I love him to pieces and would be devastated if anything happened to him.
He is afraid to go outside and I'm glad. Lots of room inside for him to play, explore and do what cats do. Lol.

i also have a chihuahua puppy, but i think i may eventually breed with her so i am waiting to fix her.
We have two cats. A week before our first cat was to be spayed she went in to heat. Argghhhh!! She drove me nuts, but she was so pitiful at the same time. I remember sitting with her with a heating pad on her tummy rocking her. My husband laughed himself silly at me. But hey, it worked!!!! lol
i think she knows i'm talking about her... she just gave me a funny look and ran away, lol
