Is it possible that lithium can make you feel more stressed out and manic? I was under a stressful situation all weekend. I lost my girlfriend. I know that's enough to stress anyone out but my heart was racing and I was acting like a fool. I wouldn't leave her alone. i stressed her out severely and caused her to break up with me. I have been taking it for almost 2 weeks. I notice an increased heart rate about 30 minutes after taking it. I think it agitates me more than it helps. I think my mania has increased instead of declined. I know that I can't just stop it because of possible side effects but I think I will talk to my doctor and shrink about it. I am just wondering what everyone else thinks.

Also remember that drugs can have different effects on different people. I'm not a professional so I have no idea what could be going on in your case. My personal experience, I took Citalopram and Paxil, both of which gave me increased anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, plus various other illnesses. My doctors were clueless as to why and basically told me I was a lair.
The simplest way to think about it is, does it make you feel improved or worse? Then talk to your doctor about that. Be honest about how it makes you feel.

ALL MEDS GIVE ME SIDE AFFECTS NOW THAT I HAVE A BRAIN TUMOR AND M ON SEIZURE MEDS.
