Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
As for not being able to get better if you're unable to treat the root cause of your depression, this is one of the reasons I am not a fan of meds. I feel they are more of a bandaid and not actually doing anything to help the root cause, just the symptoms.
switch to it. Wellbutrin [ which I currently take } is definitely energizing but can increase anxiety in some people. It is "atypical" becaue it works
mostly on dopamine and not serotonin. The "peaceful " feeling that is
provided by seratonin drugs is also why they cause tiredeness in some
people.
I can totally relate to you about the Zoloft... I recently started it about a month ago, but have been very tired on it. I am taking it at night... but I still get tired during the day. I finally decided to stop about two days ago. The withdrawal has been quite bad for me unfortunately, and made me even more tired (to the point where I have been falling asleep in the middle of the day!), but hopefully this will not be the case for you :(
I agree, antidepressants seem to be a bandaid for bigger underlying issues... if we can figure out what these are, it will help in the long run. Stay strong.
Again, to echo some others, the drugs you are taking also really matter, but unfortunately it's just time to get that figured out. Reading what other people are on/are not on/hated/like I guess can be somewhat informative but when it comes down to it everybody reacts to each drug differently. You can't know how it will work for you until you experiment with it (of course via your doctor). I'm currently in the process of figuring the same things out... it's frustrating but I'm looking forward to the day I get the right mix for my body.
Good luck
Anyway, I hope you will look at the article, and see what you think.
