Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I don't want to deal with life...if I could have my home..money..food an no interaction with others...life would be great..but that is not how it is...lol.
Your stuck here with us cause like me...you won't do it....because you don't want to die...its a very frustrating feeling...I agree...its strange too.
But I would never say I don't want a long life...I'm sorry you feel that way...I have major depression and I don't think I can say I really want to die ever...even thou some days I say I want to die.
I think myself and the original poster have the same feelings..want to die..but not really..
Again, I'm sorry you don't want to live long...from your ethnicity from your picture I think you are destined to a long life....I have actually been jealous of ethnic groups and longevity....
Based on your picture, you look young and I do wish, as jmaetallo asked, that you would feel comfortable sharing your story. We are here to help.
As a Mom of two teenagers, I am glad that you are reaching out. This is a good place to be. I also so some "counseling" of a few other teenage girls that have sought my help and do hope that you feel comfortable enough to tell us more about what is going on in your life.
As for feeling like killing yourself...I can tell you that as a woman who deals with depression I too have thought about this. And as you said, its not that you want to die, but it is about escaping the pain.
I urge you to open up more...or even message me if you want to talk in private. I am here for you...and you are NOT alone!
Meds can help, but if your depression is more of an experienced based depression/environmental based depression meds may not be effect but good therapy will be effective.
Get to know what triggers your depression. Learn to focus on the things you can control, and to avoid/minimize the things you can not control. (And as the saying goes, the wisdom to tell the difference!)
As for acting on suicide, please don't give into that urge. There are a lot of people here who have attempted, none of them recommend it to anybody.
Gentle hugs
My dad was the one who - finally - noticed something was wrong with me and urged me to get help. I was admitted into a psychiatric clinic and started a subscription and psychotherapy.
Now I look back at those moments and I see another person, someone who wasn't me, like it never was a part of my life.
So I advise you to do the same. Get help! It changes your life. literally!
Thank you for all your advice and support, I didn't receive the notifications x
I have been there, too. Many times. It takes a lot more strength to push on and a lot more strength to allow yourself to hope than to let yourself succumb to suicide.
Depression is a hard hand to be dealt. I, too, have lost friends due to my illness, and I know how badly that hurts. The people who usually support me have gone through their waves of no support, but they always come back.
I hope that you're feeling well, Kappy93, and please feel free to message me if you ever want to talk. Stay strong. Push through. Hope for tomorrow.
(The one thing that always helps me get through is the thought of the first crocuses in spring. They wait all year and then push through the ground, and watching them bloom is beautiful. We're almost there.)
