Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I would try some positive reinforcement. If there are positive things he may want to talk more. Try to look at things from his perspective. I know when my mother or wife starts talking in that nasty, annoying voice, the first you want to do is get out or away. As a man, you realize that it is necessary to talk and communicate but it is hard. Sorry but I hope this helps. Not saying men are right or you are wrong but that there are different perspectives.
As far as trying to be sweet......that has not worked for 55 years. All it made me was everyone's door mat. And that led to a drinking problem and a nervous breakdown and more therapy than one person should ever have to experience.
Exercise-the only exercise he wants to do right now is run. I have deformed feet. So far I have had 3 surgeries on one of them....and yet walking is even uncomfortable. He would consider bike riding in the nicer weather but it is winter in PA. Doing any other exercise with me would require compromise on his part.
I would love to push everything negative out of my life....but there are obligations.....stupid, guilt inducing obligations.....
yeah I read Men are from Mars......did anyone notice a man wrote it? Ok...that made me laugh. Jeez.......I really need to do something about all this anger don't I?
Thanks everyone for listening....I'm done whining :P
Best wishes
