Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Not without a 'good' medical history ... meaning a history of medical care, a diagnosis, a prognosis, etc. You can file a claim if you have a certifiable medical history. Sounds like you are 'disabled' and unable to work ... so if you have medical history to back you up, .. file for it. Most are denied ... and that is when you see a Disability Lawyer. This is the typical routine.
Problem is ... your SS disability is measured by your Social Security contribution history. Unless you have made a LOT of money ... at your age, you may not get much ... not enough contributions in the account to be very much money in benefits.
"Social Security pays disability benefits to you and certain members of your family if you have worked long enough and have a medical condition that has prevented you from working or is expected to prevent you from working for at least 12 months or end in death."
Then .. there is SSI ... a totally different program which may help you .... and you can read about it here:
