Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Then you will either stay where you are, ... or slip backward.
Don't mean to be harsh. In fact, I have a tremendous empathy for DID people ... and I commend you on your emergence from it. You are remarkable to say the least.
The dynamics of life will probably move you forward ... though maybe not. The key would be to tell yourself you will ... even if it is ever so little at a time.
Sounds like you have an exceptionally good therapist. Occupy yourself with good thoughts and activities until he/she returns. You can do that, ... I am sure. They will not just dump you on your own. Their support and guidance will resume shortly. Not to worry.
Talking on this board is one positive step you have already taken and can continue to take. It takes a lot to reach out, be honest about yourself, and ask for help.
Could you tell us more about the process of integrating personalities? I have not been through it myself and would be interested in understanding more about it.
Also, you said that you don't like who you see (yourself). What, specifically, do you feel?
I know about depression and I fake pretty much everything in life. I do not enjoy anything and if I do feel happiness its only for a moment and then its gone.
I do not know how to change or make things better but I hope to work on it soon, I am 26 and I don't want to look back on life and regret things I've done. I have a wonderful boyfriend of almost 2 years and he loves me for me which is great.
The next step for me is taking life by the balls and really living!!
So you have DID? I watched United states of Tara it was a show on showtime and Netflix about a wife and mother who has DID and I watched the show 3x now so far its that good.
Watching the show you get to see what its like for a person with DID, but I haven't been through it so I know I don't fully understand it, but I do know this you much look at the positives in your life and if there are NONE, make some!!!
I always suggest to others to volunteer to others it gives us the chance to help others rather than focusing on our own problems. Also it really helps another person and who knows maybe you would feel good about it.
Good luck and I hope you feel better talking here should benefit you until your therapist returns :)
When will your therapist be back? If it is just a "short time away" (what ever that means to you!) then you can try some short term coping methods. ie, gonna make it to something that happens 24 or 48 hours from now. Perhaps a TV show, or movie premier, or some other positive event in your life.
Hugs, and please hang tight until your therapist is back!
