Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Ride it out .. things will come together for you.
I think if you keep speaking, you might stumble on the answer and inevitably more questions, but that is how you grow.
Another thing that really helps me when I'm anxious or in panic: I write. If you can't think of anything to write, write down what you are feeling and continue to write possible causes for it. The hardest part is getting started because we're paralyzed when anxious and can't muster enough drive to even decide what to wear on any given day. But just do it. Start writing. Here is why it works: You must be objective when you write. It is impossible to write anything and not be objective. This, alone, will help panic and anxiety subside. And who knows? You might even write the next great American novel. Edgar Allen Poe was a depressive. Mozart, Schumann, and Jimmy Hendrix. Einstein was a depressive. And many more very gifted people too numerous to name here. So we're all in good company regardless how miserable we may feel. Poe wrote great literature and poetry, Mozart, Schumann and Hendrix great music, and Einstein wrote theories expanding on Newton. They all wrote. Try it and see if it helps.
Finally, and most importantly, nothing is permanent. Do not despair because we all CAN get better. I was as desperate as one can possibly be but I got better. There are better days ahead, believe me.
Try to complete certain sentences, like:
I am unhappy because _____________________________
I am confused by _______________________________
I want more of __________________
etc., etc., that is why I suggested you keep talking and maybe journal to get to what is in your mind.
Still, I would gently encourage you to try to answer those sentences and some more like:
I need ________________________
I would like ________________________
I dont' know what your background is like or if you are taking medications, though I do wish you the best and if you need to just let things out on here, then do so and we can try to help. Confusion can be a part of depression too as you work out your feelings. (((hugs)))
