Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Does anyone else feel so alone, or is it just me? Like if I was the only person left in this world I'd feel the same as now. Like I'm living in a fog I can't get out of, and who would want to come in and join me? I just want to go curl up in bed and cry.

Yes, I do know the feeling, but things CAN change. Please try to keep your head up. [hugs]

That's what depression does...makes us feel alone and isolated. You're not though...so many of us are going through the same thing. Hang in there.

It just feels like it's never going to end. I can't even remember how long I've felt like this.

I read on your profile, that you are getting married next May (?). Regardless....you are very young, and things are going to get better for you. You are at an age where there is much opportunity that can come your way. Loneliness can feel so overwhelming and isolating, but it is most certainly a temporary situation.

Years don't seem very temporary to me, they seem long term. And over those years things have only slowly gotten worse . . .

But if you're only 20 yrs old, then for many of those years, you have likely not had as much control over your situation(s) as what you have now and will continue to have (I'm just speculating). If you are getting married, then that will certainly bring big changes and rewarding challenges. You are at a point in your life that (as I said before), should start affording you the ability for great success and sincere friendships. Please don't give up hope. You are the only one that can decide which steps to take, to make positive changes in your life. Unfortunately, there may be those times that you will simply feel alone- and for that, all I can say is hugs to you.

I completely understand how you feel...I have felt that way many, many times...you are not alone...this website is an excellent resource, try to use it. I'm 23, and a law student, I'm married and have a 2 year old son. Relationships are hard, especially at this age I think. Don't forget you are your own person, the world is full of opportunity, you can change things. What do you like? What do you want? What would be your dream life? I know that some of those things seem so far out of reach, but if you focus on working towards them, or something smaller and similar, that can help your well being. GOod luck, and please feel free to talk with me...I can relate, I'm sure. Keep your head up!

I definitely know how you feel. I felt this way even in my twenties. I wish I was not alone but it looks like this is my life and I have to make the best of what I have left.
