Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
First I'd like to say I was on here about a year and a half ago and found this site very helpful. I left because I just couldn't deal with most of my problems anymore, so I just left instead of posting about them. But I did keep a journal which I think I'll start up again.
Anyway I had/have depression before I left and now this week and really today it just has hit me bad. It seems much worse then years past too now that its back. I was doing pretty good...
I did have a neighbor commit suicide a few weeks and he was 28, I'm 27. I guess that got me thinking of like what's the point? It got me thinking of how sad it is too, and I'm not saying that's the way or whatever, but I just don't see the point in life anymore also.
A few years ago I had a job, and talked to people and such and I was still depressed. Now I'm unemployed, no friends, I rarely even have a long talk with anybody. I just don't want to be bothered or get close to anyone. Funny thing is I'm a hopeless romantic if I fall for a woman, but at the same time, again, I think what's the point? She won't like me, or if she does so what? Do I date her, marry her, we live happy, then die anyway?
So I don't bother, if anybody reads my journals from the past I did fall for a woman and she ripped my heart out...But I don't care about that anymore, really, I don't even know her now. My job I had then too I've left.
I guess now I just watch sports, play games, and draw in Photoshop to keep my mind busy or these depression thoughts come back. I just wanted to post on here again because I really like this site, I see most of my friends from a few years ago on here are gone...
I also was reading Into the Wild a few years ago and still read about McCandless every so often. I feel maybe traveling might still be the only way to save myself. If I just go, I want to travel out west and see the country. I think if I do that I'll never come back to my family, but at least I'll be alive, seeing nature's beauty. Yes I'd be alone, but whatever...I kind of like being alone most of the time except when my depression hits like it has this week bad.
I do want to love a woman someday, fall head first for her. Would she be faithful though? Would she be settling or would she love me the same? I'd say I want a steady job again, but after 5 years at the same job and getting screwed over at the end I don't see the point of that. I'd rather just travel and be a nomad.
If you took the time to read my ramblings I thank you. Any thoughts I'd appreciate, your welcome to read my journals, and I'll be writing again soon. I'm just really down right now, not sure why either, not for lack of job, or friends...Maybe I'm lonely is all?

I'm so sorry to hear that you got hurt by an old love. But please don't give up on finding someone special. Trusting someone after we've been betrayed to really difficult, but it can be done. You sound like my son in many ways. (He'll be 26 in May) He would like to just walk away from his home and job and just travel. But realistically, that's probably never going to happen. I read the book "Into the Wild".....It didn't end well.......
Keep trying, the right girl is out there for you.

As for the woman yes she led me on, and on, till she just stopped talking to me. She said yes when I asked her out, then stood me up. She always flirted with me too, and gave me signs. Still don't know why she just didn't say no from the start. Oh well, that's done now, it doesn't even hurt anymore, I just don't think I will ever understand her motives...
@WallyBear Yeah that book didn't end well. If I do travel I'd go by car and probably settle in a small town. I just hate where I live which doesn't help my depression at all, just makes it worse. I'd probably be happier elsewhere.
