Depression - Teen Support Group
Teen depression is marked by persistent sadness, discouragement, loss of self-worth, and loss of interest in usual activities. Depression can be a temporary response to many situations and stresses. Teens may be more susceptible to depression due to the normal maturation process, the stress associated with it, and conflicts with parents as they become more independent.

I just am on another round as I call it. Hit my head on something - a cupboard - then bumped it coming out of my car and I got a concussion.
Can't close my eyes and stay upright for 5 seconds, get the wobble, don't fall but do walk like a drunken sailor again.
So yeah, I am depressed.
My work is intense, I can't do it and screwed up.
I think I'm fine until I realize I am not and screw up.
I am flat broke.
can't get financial help because I work for myself.
Spent all my savings 2015-16 when I couldn't work either.
SO I WALK.
I walk and I walk. The walking helps my brain heal.
The walking helps my depression.
The doctors just want me on medication.
I consulted with this holostic doctor who said if I am not having seisures dont take medication except for aspirin or tylenol. An antianxiety on very rare occassion.
The drugs inhibit the natural healing process.
Drink plenty of water.
Avoid alcohol except for a beer a day max for nutrients and calmative effect
Walk
Do cross-motor exercercises
Walk backward
Walk turning head slowly to left then to middle
turning slowly to right to middle
Whatever your Physical therapist gives you, do those exercises
If you don't have a PT get an order for one, helps so much
See an Occupational Therapist OT. So helpful. Mine came to my house to help me
Chaos is a byproduct of a concussion so your home can get chaotic.
The OT can help you organize and give you tips to stay organized.
I would do laundry and then put it down and have piles of clothes - she taught me have hangers, then I hang up the clothes and have the signal that those clothes that are not hung up get folded and then I know the folded clothes get put in the drawer.
I also have a list for that.
I stop mid way through stuff because my brain thinks I am done when I come to a 'block' like having to hang up or put away and I dont' have the hanger right there. I stop processing and think I am done, lol.
I look at the humor.
Just writing this is making it easier, I am not feeling so alone or depressed.
I admit. Last week I though of killing myself.
That is not me.
I like my life
I just have a hard time dealing with the TBI
I get through it every time.
I just have to remember.
