Depression - Teen Support Group
Teen depression is marked by persistent sadness, discouragement, loss of self-worth, and loss of interest in usual activities. Depression can be a temporary response to many situations and stresses. Teens may be more susceptible to depression due to the normal maturation process, the stress associated with it, and conflicts with parents as they become more independent.
Overwhelming at times, isn't it.
Speak out.
I was so surprised when I was on a plane, last one on, so confused, people complaining for me to get sat but I had to put my bag in the overhead bin and had so much trouble. I was physically ill from first leg of trip, couldn't figure out how to get from there to here or how to get the bag up into the bin...takes me awhile to process things when I am in the throes of a concussion..I just plaintively said, "I have a concussion" The whole plane turned from being mad at me to helping me get my bag in the bin and sat down. Of course I started crying, which for me made it worse but after the plane took off and we were in flight, a woman across the aisle asked me how I was doing. That gesture made me feel so good.
i have had so many people say something, take the time to help me, after I let them know.
People are nice and with all the news about concussions I think there is more understanding.
Let people know you need time to process because you have a concussion.
Let people know it is too much stimulation - too loud, too bright, too many people, too much to think about - because you have a concussion.
It's okay.
We get through this.
It does get better.
