Depression - Teen Support Group
Teen depression is marked by persistent sadness, discouragement, loss of self-worth, and loss of interest in usual activities. Depression can be a temporary response to many situations and stresses. Teens may be more susceptible to depression due to the normal maturation process, the stress associated with it, and conflicts with parents as they become more independent.
I've been through depression several times now, and I know how hard it is not having any support. I just told my family what was going on this weekend, and in stead of them getting angry they just tried to listen and support me. I didn't expect that. Can you talk to your family? I just saw a gyno, who is sending me to a pyschologist and she said we could figure things out. Is getting professional help an option for you?
My gyno gave me a phone number in case I felt like commiting suicide again, 1-888-429-8167 and she said they were professionals that were trained and knew how to help and would understand me if I felt alone. If you feel alone, there are hotlines that are supposed to be able to support you and help you find help.
I'll be on probably later at night tomorrow, if you just want to talk things through. Talking about things always helps me (I feel great after talking to my parents about everything).
