Depression Supporters Support Group
This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
Right now he is in a good place, I am so scared that he will go away again, just like you said when your BF is down it is like he is a different person, not the man I know and love. Hopefully the weather will get better and you he can go on his run again. Maybe you can get him to go walk somewhere indoors with you? We have a college nearby that has an indoor track, when not in use by the track team the community can use it or we go to Walmart. Do you have anything there you can go to, maybe at the school he goes to? Try to get him moving, it sounds like that helps him. AND do something for YOU to keep your spirits up. ((HUG))
At first I came here all the time and then he got better for a few weeks and I shyed away... I have learned that is not the way to handle this. I honestly check this site everyday and have for the past 5 months. Sometimes I am so busy that I simply cannot respond... but I check in and read recent posts and give myself food for thought.
I think honestly it gives me a network of people who need what I need... and together we can get through this.
Also... when things are going really well I notice has been my biggest growth period on here... I read others' information and posts more intently and soak in more of what is going on in the lives of all you on here. During these times I am able to offer advice without my head being caught up in my own mess... but also I learn SO much because I am more objective at these times and am better prepared to deal with the next wave of depression to hit.
Good luck to you... many hugs!
