Depression Supporters Support Group
This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
So - today was up and down but in the end I think it was up. Got up early no idea why but hubs was happy as he is an early riser so time together and as we all know, they hate to be alone. I even made breakfast. I left and went shopping and was gone 4 hours - that was bad becuase its like they have no idea that they can make a sandwich just as easily as I can so they were "starving" when I got home.
I got my homework done without the hubs whining I ignore him all weekend when I am on teh computer. We went out to a quiz nite at a church for a fundraiser with one of my college friends and her husband (she was the maid of honor at our wedding) and had a good time.
Hubs has been drinking heavily the last 4 months - self medicating which annoys the crud out of me and makes him somewhat hard to deal with in the eveneings. He started out 3 beers a nite, then 4 then 6 now we are up to anywhere from 6 to 8 in a night. He usually starts arond 7 or 8pm and then after our son goes to bed between 9 and 10, they speed up in consumption rate. Anyway usulally he is pretty lucid on the beer and I used to complain about it but that is not a good thing becuase then I am accused of being jugemental or "on him". He also feels guilty about drinking and knows he shoudn't so he does not see the double edge this has - he says it makes him feel good physically with the anxiety issue bbut I see it makes him more emotional and the mood switches are more rapid in nature. Anyway, usually he just gets a little loopy before bed but a couple nights ago he drank some really strong craft beer and he had like 9 or 10 which is way too many in 4.5 hours. He could barely walk and he took a fall where he bumped his head, his knee and his cheek. He has NO RECOLLECTION of what happened. However, there is clearly injury evidence. BONUS he decided he can't ignore it any longer he needs to quit and its going to be cold turkey on Monday. woo hoo! usually when he says he is going to do something he does it so that will be good for some time.
Lsstly my son's 13th birthday is next week and he actually is excited and looking online for what we will get him for his birthday. He even planned a "party" for my son and his three friends to go play LaserTag that day and he plans to take them. wow....
Although its not sunshine her yet, its only partly cloudy over here this weekend with some sunshine peeking thru for a change...lets hope it lasts longer than a weekend.

It's your sons birthday!!! How fun it will be!! How wonderful and excited you must be!! I hope it's wonderful and husband is happy and only gets happier!!
