This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
I graduated with my MA last spring so I know that is very hard to go through too! I have to admit though... It is even harder not in it. Or at least different yet equally as hard. I don't have that given 2 nights a week or homework I must do. I don't see that additional group of people and have those friendships a few times a week and all that has made it a little more difficult for me to cope and also made me entrench myself in work a little more. Just be ready for that time you are done... it makes depression even more visible and more constant in your life.
I hope your time together is wonderful and you guys get to enjoy eachother for all that time :)
I do like work a lot and I am very good at what I do and very busy - no one can do what I do as well as I do right now. What makes it hard for him is my summer travel season is going to start. I travel all over the state the last half of July, all of August and part of Sept/October educating our outside sales force on new products. I wish he would go with me sometimes in the summer cuz there is a week long stratech I am way up north (8 hour drive away) and its a stunning vacation spot. I get lots of free time when I am up there and its basically all on the company dime. I usually take our son with me that week and the hubby is home alone for a week cuz the travel is too much for him to deal with I guess (more than 4 hours in a car is pushing it). Our son loves it and he is old enough to hang out in the hotel alone while I work then we go out all afternoon and night and see cool touristy things and such.
I try to make it easier on my hubs and do as many day trips as possible for the rest of the state. If its a 2-3 hour drive, I will do it in a day... so I can be home every night. Makes for a LONG day for me up at usually 5 and on the road by 5:30 and then home around 7pm or so. I put on a LOT of miles in the summer. For example, the other day, last Thursday, I went 3 places in teh state to gove a preview to some sales agents. I left the house at 6am and was home at 5pm. I put on 320 miles just that day. Then I had to catch up on what happened in the office while I was out and had homework that night as it was the first day of my new class...
This weekend was good I guess. We went out to the movies and saw Xmen as "planned" on Saturday and today we saw Godzilla "as planned" and went out to lunch at TGI Fridays. We do have one "plan" every week. My husband loves trivia and he is VERY good at it. So we play trivia every Wednesday night on a bar trivia league. we are our own team and he carries most of it himself. We invite people to join us but more than half of the time its just us. Its nice cuz we get out, it gives him something to look forward to every week and its something he likes and he is good at so it makes him feel good. We usually always place every week and we have gone to semi finals twice and finals once.
1) move up at work
2) I needed the student loan money to get by.
I have to start paying the student loans soon- right now they are in forbearance because the payments are too big for me... it stresses me a lot!
I wanted school to be over too... it was so stressful and hectic and I know that I am much better at coping now without it but theres a large part I miss. Once the school year started I really missed those evenings in class and friendships I had made. But I know because mine too is needy it helps him that he gets more of my attention :)
The things we bend over backwards for our men is crazy to think of. I read other peoples sometimes and think 'they shouldn't have to do that, it is unfair!" then I knock my self in the forehead and realize i do the same :) Thats why we are depression supporters, we are good at it and its worth it to us. Everyone has something they deal with and this is something I can deal with. There are lots of things I feel would break me but I have a pretty good handle on this :)
So interesting in our twin men.... mine is a HUGE trivia buff! We have so many trivia pursuit versions we plan! But to be on a league! He has a hard time with people but I think thats something to try out. I may look that up tonight... itd certainly give him much more of a challenge than my lack of trivia knowledge ;) so interesting our similarity in situations!
