Depression Supporters Support Group
This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
I can relate to this entirely, although not married myself, I feel the same way with my partner. It's difficult to talk to them about it because it means telling them that they are having a negative, unhappy effect on you, which in turn, puts them deeper in to their low.
It is difficult no longer having your best friend be the one with all the answers and a listening ear but have hope that things will get better. Encourage him to find the help he needs and most importantly, find a friend to talk to. It helps me, only a little but it helps and remember, you are far from alone in feeling tired and lonely and sad. I can not remember the last time I had a hug with meaning from my partner, nevermind a "how is your day going" text when I am at work. I am met with one word replies and responses whilst he can not even look at me.
Have faith things will get better and get help yourself. Depression is terrible for those suffering it, but just as terrible for those supporting someone with it and i believe that goes largely unrecognised a lot of the time.
