Depression Supporters Support Group
This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
In my opinion, you've already made progress towards a new life by being HERE. Maybe it doesn't seem like much, because most of us probably joined looking for *support* or *answers*, not self-esteem or anything like that.
But think about this: Are you "yourself" when you're online? Sure you are! You have no one to impress here; and there are probably a thousand other websites like this one if this one wasn't working out. You really had nothing to lose by coming in and putting all the ugly stuff out in the open. And yet look how many people care about you here! Friends, hugs, etc.
They don't have to care about you, I'm sure no one feels obligated to - in fact, when you struggle with depression it is sometimes *extra* hard to connect to people - and yet you have a community right here.
What that says about you, is that people who have never even met you can see the goodness and value in you and feel compelled to respond to it in spite of some real chaos that they are juggling.
*Big hug*
People treat you the way you let them, your self-esteem starts with people treating you with respect.
I think this is good for self esteem because it helps you realize that you can be yourself and people will still like you. More importantly, it'll help you realize that you can make mistakes and it's ok because everyone else makes them too.
Now, I don't mean run around and pretend like you're drunk, starting fights and other crazy things people seem to do when they're intoxicated haha I just mean don't worry about little things too much :)
...I don't know. Hoped that helped :)
