Depression Supporters Support Group
This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
In my case, like now, the past several days have been wonderful with my husband, but I am drained and totally exhausted from the battle. My son is ill possibly pneumonia. And if I let myself remember the sadness we have been battling I get pretty sad, then I worry about when it is going to happen again.
So, I think that it is normal. (not saying I am normal by any means)
I'm just hoping this is temporary and once everything stabilizes I'll snap out of it.
I'm glad to hear things have been good the past few days! I hope your son feels better soon!
I am so glad there is progress! I hope it continues and that you feel better soon!
Don't get me wrong, I'm completely happy and grateful that things are better and wouldn't change it for anything, but I was just thinking that when you go through something like this and it becomes your new "normal", you get used to gauging their reactions with things and learning what to say and not to say, then when it changes, you have to adjust to that too and constantly being on edge wondering if it's going to last. So I guess it makes sense. I meet with my counselor next week so maybe she'll be able to help too.
Thanks you guys :)
I absolutely know what you mean! When all of a sudden he is in a good place from that horrible pit of despair. I am so thrown off guard and on edge I can't handle it. And then once I accept it... I too feel depressed. He notices it too... I try to fake it and act like all is find and dandy but I'm too tired from trying to work through the battle that I've run out of my upbeat attitude when it's time to party haha!!!
Sometimes I feel that if someone prescribed me bed rest for 6 months... I could do it no problem and sleep most of the time just to recover!
Keep your chin up... This too shall pass. And in my experience much faster than our s/o depression does. Thank goodness :)
We're all here for you!!!
And lastly- never apologize!!! We're all in this together!!!
Hugs!
You are all awesome.
