Depression Supporters Support Group
This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
Whether you're with him or not, he's going to do what he's going to do. I'm dealing with a 16 year old; you're dealing with an adult.
To cope, I try to live my life as normal as possible and pull my daughter along with me. I go outside, sit on my deck, and just breathe, and hope and try to believe that one day she will be better able to handle her depression. Take walks. My daughter use to go with me, but now does not, but I still go. Because I know I need to be healthy in mind in order to deal with her.
It's such a sucky and stuck feeling, but you do have choices. My daughter will be my daughter forever.
