Depression Supporters Support Group
This community is dedicated to spouses, children, relatives, co-workers and others who are actively supporting someone suffering from depression or other serious mental illness. Depression can bring about intense sadness, melancholia or despair that has advanced to the point of being disruptive, which can have a grave impact on the ability of others trying to help.
I'd first like to say I don't have personal experience with this but I can tell you the steps I've seen my husband and friends take when trying to treat their depression.
I would first start with your doctor and explain what you're feeling. They should be able to direct you from there or prescribe you something. If they don't offer, I'd also ask them how you can get into some counseling. Hopefully they'll have someone they can refer you to, if not you can always look it up, but I'd definitely start with your doctor and hopefully they can direct you.
But I would also like to add that I'm glad you were able to notice there was a problem and are willing to get help. A lot of people seem to struggle with this step so it's admirable that you're trying to take action. Good luck!
