Dad has been diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic with dementia. He has refused to give me power of attorney. He has no one else. Throuhout my life my dad has been violent and has held a gun to the heads of both my grandmother, mother and threatened to kill my late husband for no reason. In his house he had two guns a rifle and shotgun. It took me three years to get him to agree to give them up. Now he blames me for having them taken.

I'd been exempt from his violence until my husband passed. Now I've been physically harmed. He was a wife beater and I look like my late mom.

Now he has announced plans to relatives to kill me. He lives alone and had no food in the house. I've tried to do all I can for him. But I can't let him sit in the h with no food and 88 years old. I'd been in touch with social services, lawyers, etc. All say the same thing. Nothing can be done. They've washed their hands of him. They say you can't put a person in a nursing home without their consent. I tried and dad just signed himself out. I tried living with him, but it was horrible. He even refused to let me have visitors, not even my grandson. I now live in my own home and will not move in with him in light of the death threat.

Long story short, I managed to get a social worker to convince dad to go into the hospital. He was nice to me, apologetic as he sat in ER. Then like a snake he turned on me. Then the hospital said he is not sick so they are sending him home. It was at this point that I left him there. I don't know what will happen now. He does not have a key to get into his house. He has no money because he gave it away. And there is no food in the house and no way of getting food. He did have a debit card that had money on it and I was ordering food for him with it. Then he had it canceled so I couldn't use it. He said. I never used it for myself.


The system fails us.

Anyone know what happens when you just leave a person in the hospital.
