I noticed the're selling this drug on the internet. I guess it's only effective if injected by a Dr. or can it be used IM? Just wondering.

It's injected into a disc to help in fusions I think. Pretty sure it's still in clinical trials at the moment.

rhGDF-5 is currently in clinical trials. I was injected 4 mths ago and my DDD pain has decreased at least 50%. Truly incredible.

If you have long term lower back pain due to DDD then you should consider becoming part of the trial.

RTWS, you mention lower back pain. Is it not injected in the cervical or thoracic?
What doctor did your injections? PM, Ortho, Neuro? How did you become a part of the clinical trial? Were you approached?

I'm thinking about bringing some info on this to my next PM appointment. It would give so many hope if this is works.
Take care of the DDD before all the damage is done & nerve pain or damage enters the picture.
Some hope is better then none.

Ozzie&Harriet-Haven't tried the back to life machine. I don't know when I was desperate for pain relief I bought so many things I couldn't afford-traction unit, exercise equipment etc. I'm afraid to put out more money for this item. It would be a good question for the group and hope to hear others if they had any improvement.

I'm sorry to hear that you're worse after surgery. I just wonder how long I can go like this and having no surgery. I hope you can heal.

Sammyo1 - The inclusion criteria are pretty narrow for the trial. Lower back, not more than 50% degenerated etc. However, when it becomes commercially available who knows!

I became part of the trial because my surgeon (ortho) is operating one of the trial sites. Anyone wanting to participate should contact a trial site on the list - http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01124006. They are scattered throughout the US.
