I just read this article about a young man collapsing from a PE after playing XBox for 12 hours. Never occurred to me, but I guess it could be a side effect of this kind of activity.

Goes to show that maybe docs are going to have to start thinking outside the "long plane trip" box when looking at clot causes in the future.

Oh yeah, I'm convinced my DVT was caused by being computer-bound. And a year before I got my DVT I recall joking with my boss at the time, if she kept us chained to our desks all day I'd end up with deep vein thrombosis and sue for workman's comp. How weird is that?! But I didn't get my DVT until I became my own boss, and chained myself to my computer.
It's so easy to be absorbed by what you're doing, be it video games or work, and not move for hours. It's bad for your bones, muscles, eyes and circulatory system. I've got to force myself to move every hour.

Also, what the article doesn't mention is that he did that (playing for up to 12 hours at a time without moving) day after day after day. Of course, we know that all it takes is one time, but even totally healthy, un-bloodclot prone people can get DVT's with that kind of massive inactivity.
