I don't know if I asked this question recently but I took a car ride in mid-September that was about 5 1/2 hours each way with only one day between trips. I developed my second blood clot behind my knee about 7 weeks later. My internist, my vascular surgeon and the new hematologist don't think that travel was the cause of the second clot because too much time had elapsed between the road trip and the development of the clot. Could this be true?
But, I don't really know all the science behind these things, so I guess anything is possible. It does sound like a really long time to me though.
No, I was not on a blood thinner when I developed my second clot ten years later. I kept hoping the second clot was due to the 5 1/2 hour car ride but three doctors did not think that was the case since the car ride was in mid Sept. and I clotted Nov. 3. It's scary knowing that I may have developed that second clot for no reason.
