Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
The day is finally here. I took my last Xarelto last night. My plan is to have blood test perfromed by my Hematologist in 2 weeks to look for potential genetic clotting disorders. The next day I get another scan by my vacular doctor. IF everything looks good, I go to aspirin and a monitoring program.
My anxiety is ramped up. I'm sure this won't be a fun 2 weeks. I never had major clot/PE symptoms before. I wore a protective boot after ankle surgery that I inflated at night and wore sleeping. I eventually had small crampy feeling in groin, but had major flue-like symptons that led to our scans to find clots and PEs. I'm hoping to be cautious enough to make sure things are ok. I have some chronic clot still. I have been running and lifting for last few months, so feel very good. Compresison and hydration are always a focus too.

Interesting that you say a reversal agent should be available next year with regard to xarelto. If that is the case, I will certainly take a more serious look at it instead of taking the Warfarin.
The Chief Editor of the JAMA never puts her patients on the newer anticoags due to the fact that there is no reversal agent. I will keep an eye on anything that she might publish in the future and see if she changes her mind.
I just had to say that I perked up when I read your original post mentioning the crampy groin and flu like symptoms. You are the only other I have read about that had those symptoms before finding the clots. Maybe someone else will be alert to look for that after reading this.
We drove from Michigan to New Hampshire and I thought I had food poisoning. Groin was painful and I spent our first day there laying on a heating pad and retching. Then the leg pain began.... Interesting.

Very True about having answers Jeremy. No treatment for MTHFR. We tested homocystine levels early on, and they were only slightly higher than normal when I started treatment. Then they normalized after 3-4 months. It will be monitored on my 6/12 mos visits though.
