Either spring for waxing or go back to using a razor.

You aren't going to bleed out if you use a razor. I've cut myself shaving and you'll bleed for 15 minutes instead of for 5. Definitely not a reason to avoid razors.

I bought a 4 month old moose of a puppy. His puppy teeth are sharp and my hands were often bloody. I've had limbs take half the skin off my hands when I was bush hogging under the oak trees. My hands looked ugly but finally the puppy learned some manners. I just put a large bandaid on my hand when a oak limb hits me. Using a razor shouldn't be a problem.

Unless you're shaving with a hand ax, bleeding isn't that big a deal if you cut yourself shaving. I've done it and to me I don't see that much difference in bleeding from when I wasn't on anticoagulants, except it can take a few more minutes to stop. I know with my skin being so dry right now I tend to cut myself more easy so I try to pay more attention when shaving.

I shave my legs daily even though I have light hair and not a whole lot of it. I like how it exfoliates all the rough skin. Anyway, even though I shave daily, I think I've cut myself probably 5 times in the past 8 years, which is how long I've been on anticoagulants.

Curious to know how old are all of you?
I am 67 and very clumsy.
I have some very distinctive veins bulging out of the back of one of my legs. If I nicked it, there would be more than just a little bleeding.
I will stick with the electric razor.
Having had 3 DVT's on three different occasions and a broken wrist and broken arm (same side) , I am not confident that I could shave
and not kill myself doing so.

I'm 51 and have varicose veins on both legs and so I get the bumpy ride your razor can take. I think if you just go slow, don't do it when you're hands are soapy or wet so you have control, and use a sharp razor so it's truly just gliding lightly over the skin, it should be ok. But if you're not comfortable, I get it. Then you're stuck with the electric, or you can try Nair or waxing.

Brookline, I'm a little older than you. I have a 34 acre farm and board a few horses. I do all my own work on here with help for a few hours once a week. I'm the one who hooks the equipment to the tractor. I was using an axe on Friday to get rid of a toe tripper.

I had a dvt and clots in both lungs about two years ago. A week after I was out of the hospital I was very slowly back out feeding horses. I think my DVT and PEs might have been found very early. I don't live my life scared but I do work safely as possibly. I always keep my attention on what I'm doing but I will live the life I love.

I splurge on having my legs waxed. If they bother you so much, just have them waxed or there are so many products on the market that can do the job.

Ha! Sounds like I'm just a baby at 41. Of course, it also sounds like I'm the biggest slacker when it comes to shaving. I have very, very light blonde hair so it's hard to tell when I don't shave. I usually shave less than 10 times a year just because you can't really tell when I don't unless there is light behind me.

I think my hubby would like me to shave more, but since we shave about the same amount annually, I think it is fair/square.

I'm the real baby - 32! I had varicose veins along with my DVT and started using Schik Quattro razors instead of going to an electric. 9 years l later I still use them! The blades are closer together and it's a bit smoother since there's more of them. They cost more but they're worth it. Also, I HAVE to use some kind of legit shave cream to decrease chances of nicks. I also found shaving while seated in the tub was less problematic than standing in the shower.

Waxing is also an option. I didn't do it while i was on anticoags but I know others who have successfully. Pay the extra to go to a good spa so the folks there will take good care of you. I found a massage therapist who also has FVL and a history of clots at my spa!

I use a razor. Granted I'm only 40 but I bleed very easily and have scars to prove it from something as simple as a little paper cut. LOL.. What I can tell you is that if you use a multi layer razor chances of cutting yourself goes way down. Also you mentioned some very raised veins in your legs.. If you do cut yourself, you're not going to go beyond the skin into the vein. that is very highly unlikely. However, if you are very scared just use nair they have it for sensitive skin and it works pretty well. I would only leave on a few minutes and rinse off a spot and see if it worked.. You can leave it on for a few more minutes if it didn't. If that doesn't sound like a good plan then I think you'll have to try waxing... Painful and expensive and in my case embarrassing.. But I embarrass easily. Hope you find something that works for you..

Haven't posted here for a month or so.
I am back to using a razor with excellent results.
The electric razor was tearing up my already dry legs.
I was left with tiny little spots all over.
I can't wait till I get so old that I don't care if I shave my legs or not.
