Hi guys ... it's me again. When I was at my doctors office they gave me a verbal that my ultrasound showed no blood clots. But just today I got my official letter and it said this but another consideration is to check arterial Dopplers in order to make sure I have good blood flow in the legs. I thought that's what the ultrasound did but now I'm guessing not. The recommendation is over the counter anti-inflammatories and physical therapy and if I'm not better in a couple weeks to get the arterial Dopplers. Am I not out of the woods? Could this indeed still be a blood clot? How is the Dopplers test different from the ultrasound I just got? You are all so helpful ... thanks so much!

M&M, Doppler and Ultrasound are the same thing. It's a sonogram of your leg(s) from groin to toe. The images produced show blood flow and blockages along the way. I'm not sure I understand what that result means? If they have ruled out clot then presumably they are looking for other vein/artery issues. Hmmmmm. -p

My docs checked the blood flow in my legs after they checked on the clot situation. Turns out I have venous reflux. Sounds fun right? Perhaps that's what they're trying to help you look for...or something along those lines anyway. I take a baby aspirin now, wear compression stockings and work out regularly to help the blood flow in me legs. :)

I called my doctor's office and questioned the letter I got. I told them I thought the ultra sound I got was the Doppler. She said no. The Doppler measures the blood flow. What I got was a Venus Doppler or Ultrasound. So he recomended going back to the hospital for this test as well. I have an appointment tomorrow for that. Wish me luck and that I pass that one as well. I'll keep you posted.

I got my test results back and the blood flow in my legs are normal. I also found out the differences between the 2 tests. The first one was a Venous Doppler Ultrasound and it sees if there are blood clots and measures the veins going up or down - I can't remember which direction. The second test was a Doppler of the arteries and measures the flow from the opposite way. This test I had several blood pressure wraps around my legs. So now they are going to treat me for physical therapy for my neck, back and leg and hope that helps. If not I may need an MRI in which I don't want to have to do.
