Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
My flight to AZ over Thanksgiving was just under 4 hours, and though I'm not shooting lovenox, I am on warfarin. I had one vodka tonic on the way out, and 2 glasses of wine on the way back, and a bottle of water at the airport. I didn't wear my compression sox, but got an aisle seat so I could move my leg a bit more freely.
Don't pound drinks (they wouldn't let you anyway, and that little bottle is expensive and you can't bring your own anymore. And FYI - they prefer credit cards to cash on the planes now, with their little card readers at the ready.)
Get a bottle of water for the ride too, and you should be ok to have one (I'm not a doctor though, and my advice is based solely on what I do, not what my doc recommends.)
As for nerves: I used to be terrified of flying. Something that helped me was to watch the flight attendants - how calm they are, how it's all so routine to them - it really helped me deal with all the freaky noises and bumps in the ride, to see how it's just another day on the job for these folks. So I decided I would only get nervous if the flight attendants looked nervous. Also, spring the $2 for headphones and listen to music or if you get one, watch the movie. Have a great trip!
No sex, no drugs, no wine, no women
No fun, no sin, no you, no wonder it's dark
Everyone around me is a total stranger
Everyone avoids me like a cyclone ranger
