Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
So all my other blood work came back good. So I "only" have Factor V Leiden. She said all I need to do is take a low dose aspirin daily. Last time she said not too - but now she says that they may help. Ask her if the pain would get better and she said that it should. Didnt really learn much just that everyone is different and too keep active. Getting another leg scan just to see how things are looking.
Single episode (provoked or unprovoked) typical means the patient will be placed on aspirin therapy following their anticoagulation treatment unless there is a family history of clotting or if you have had reocurring clots or are FVL homozgyous. Then long term anticoagulation may be considered (not necessarily a given though for first episode).
I'm FVL (homozgyous) and had gone the aspirin route following my first DVT/PE. 3 years later, I had another DVT. So for me, I'm not a fan of aspirin therapy despite all the conflicting studies over the past two years (one study suggests it helps, the next shows it doesn't help).
