Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.

I am responding though bc 7 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a dvt in the calf and pe's. Since about a month ago I have had off and on pain in the groin area. The pain isn't severe and doesn't hurt when I walk and it can be there for a bit and gone for days at a time. I asked the dr and she said this was normal when healing from a clotting episode. I still find it weird though since the pain is in the groin area and the clot was in the calf. Since you've experienced a clot in your groin maybe you can shed some light as to whether I should push the doctor more on this or not.
Hope we both can get some support and advice for the concerns. Stay strong!!
Do go talk to your doctor.
You need that reassurance.
Have you been checked for May-Thurner syndrome? If I were you I would talk to the dr about it. If I remember correctly, you were not treated good by your drs to begin with, they need to pay attention! This has been going on too long for you.
I also had the iliac-femoral (and many more veins) dvt and I still have pain in my groin 6 months later. I don't have the tenderness in my pelvic area though.
Good luck in getting answers. I hope everything is okay, let us know how you make out.
It was my neurologist who asked me wouldn't I like to know why I get clots and had the blood tests done that show I have Lupus Anticoagulant. No other doctor (family, pulmonolodist, etc.) seems to care.
Thank you.
Rosie, if you want to get more information about your scans and results you should be able to request your files. I found the same thing and I requested my files nearly 2 months ago...still waiting to receive them...
They saw these on duplex ultrasound - this pelvic congestion can apparently also cause other side effects like excessive sweating in the groins and - ahem - swelling of 'other places' - if you understand my attempts to put this delicately! And it can make the unaffected leg swell or get varicose veins, because the pressure in that leg increases.
There doesn't seem to be a solution to the problem, if this is the cause of your tenderness - all you can do is think that without these veins, your leg would be enormous and blue, like mine was before the veins took over!!
(It's amazing how much we learn, from having an illness that the doctors don't all seem to understand - if you'd asked me 4 months ago anything about MTS or DVT, I'd have looked completely blank!!!)
