This link if for the company that makes Fragmin. It is the alternate to Lovenox. The Mfg. is Eisai and the have an assistance program that will help out no income or low income people. It is very easy to apply and usually takes less than 3 hours to get approved. With a prescription from your doctor and little effort you can have it mailed to your home, doctors office or a local pharmacy. The people are very helpful and will assist you in anyway. Fragmin is a Low-Molecular Weight Heparin just like Lovenox. Here in the U.S. Fragmin is used for Cancer patients at risk of DVT where as Lovenox is marketed for DVT/PE treatment. It's all in the way it is marketed and approved by the FDA. Both medications could be used laterally but the way they initially presented to the FDA determines who they will be approved for use. That doesn't mean that doctors will not use Fragmin for patients other then Cancer Patients, it's just means that treatment of Cancer Patients is how the medication was approved for use.
The newer oral anticoagulants coming out both this year and next will likewise be marketed for specific medical conditions/ treatments other then just post DVT/PE treatment (hip/knee replacement, Atrial Fib as example).
