DVT and pregnancy

Hi, I am 32 years old... My mom has dvt and died from trombosis last year.  


This year I got pregnant and at the 7th weeks I had a pain in My left calf.  I thought it was a muscle pain But when I got the dopler doctora said I had a parcial dvt.  After receiving irregular medicación with enoxaparine and as I couldn't receive warfarine, after a week the cloth was on My tight and alzó the poplitean.  The pregnancy was going good But it was interrupted because of the risk.  I feel really bad and sad because I read post where some women could end in a normal Delivery of a Baby. I think I should have been more strong.  But I also fear of My life because I am a single mom of a 6 years old girl.  


I don't know if in the future I will be able to get pregnant. I don't evento know if I could recocer from this DVT because it all started on August 12th. And the cloth is still there... 


Do you have any experiences in DVT that got better and later those women got pregnant and have a normal pregnancy?

I know of several women who have had healthy pregnancies after clotting. Run some searches on these boards and you should be able to find some of the older posts from them.

I also personally know several women who did heparin shots all the way through their pregnancies and had healthy babies. It can be done. You just need to find a doctor who has some experience with higher-risk pregnancies and work with them.

Enoxparin (heparin) is used as it has not been shown to go through the placenta, but here is a slight chance that warfarin may do so. So enoxparin is the right choice. You have clot in the thigh and the popliteal, so I would expect that you may stay on anticoagulation (i.e. enoxparin or other heparins) for a while. This is naturally uncomfortable, as you need to inject yourself for a long time. It is possoble that you can have some other anticoagulants, like xarelto. The thing is that the knowledge about the possible effects of some of the anticoagulants is very little known, so doctors like to play it safe and not give any medicine that may have potentilaly harmful effects to the fetus. After delivery (if necessary) you may change to other anticoagulant, like warfarin although there is a debate of whether warfarin is safe during lactation. Again, heparin would be the safest option. Pregnancy is a risk factor for DVT. However, it should not affect the fetus. Whether it affects the delivery Im not sure about, but I can scan the literature for that issue. Good luck.
