I'm back with a question after no issues for a few years. History: I had a DVT in my R leg, ankle to pelvis, after brain surgery in 2009. I was on coumadin for a few months and now use a support stocking every day.

last week I fell on a rocky beach and really banged my R knee - lots of bruising and pain. Now my calf feels painful, although no redness, heat or swelling. I've had two false alarms with doppler ultrasounds in the past, and don't want to get alarmed if this is just refered pain from the knee or from my hip.

Any suggestions?

Hi! I really don't know I am new at the DVT there is no day that I fear I might get a PE... I hope what you are feeling is just a pain from falling. Get well soon!

I think if the pain is getting better, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it seems to be getting worse, or you start getting that redness, heat, swelling, I would hoof it to the doctor ASAP.

Of course, if worrying about it will keep you up at night, I think it is just easier to go get checked out. Sometimes the peace of mind is worth the trip to the doctor.
