Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
That I can't say that I have ever experienced that. Other than the cramping in the DVT leg, don't get cramps anywhere else. Are you staying hydrated? Talking the Potassium might have something to do with it too???? maybe check in with your pcp about that one...
Are you getting the cramps in your DVT leg or both legs? I was having a huge problem with the DVT leg but hydration and exercise helps.
Also, there are medications out there but we are usually so sick of taking meds by now...
Here are a few links that do talk about calf cramp, notice that one of these links says something about potassium can be the cause of calf cramps, I'm waiting for that issue to come out, so are many others...

Until otherwise proven I'm sticking to my bananas and water ...
cegee I do have a lower back problem but have been getting injections for that, I suppose the back could be pushing against a nerve or twelve.
Marie, I don't have a DVT leg they don't know where my clots came from. I am also taking thyroid meds, and 2 different high blood pressure meds along with an anti depressant. I guess one of those in combination with my coumadin it could cause the cramps.
Sophie I can so relate to the forcing the cramped area to move even though your silently screaming as that's what i do every day. I was just curious if this was happening to anyone else too.
So it might be more of a calcium imbalance causing the cramping, rather than a potasium imbalance. You might check with your doc.
Good luck!

Anyway, I really like Barb's answer here too - I used to get foot cramps at night, and a sure-fire remedy was to drink a glass of milk.
I get cramps in my dvt leg and odd muscle twitches in my arms and legs - not painful twitches but it's new since my dvt/warfarin. My doc would tell me it's all in my head, I'm sure.
