For the ladies... if you are on coumadin therapy like I am, SHAVING is an issue... until now! I found a fabulous electric razor by Remington WR-5000 Model. I\'ve found it better than similar models to the Remington WR 1200-6000 models. It can also be used in the shower!

I am just about to start on this treatment tonight along with Clexane until Thursday and then solely the Coumadin. Quite honestly I am really scared as I have heard some bad press about this med, but seems I am not alone and that is neat to know

Men also shave and can cut themselves, bleeding like mad.
I was on it 10 years plus Heprin.

i havent had any real issues being on coumidin--this is my second time being on it-since i have had a 2nd blood clot iam told that i may have to be on it for the rest of my life i have been on it again since nov 05--women may experience a heavier flow during their menstural cycle i also always cheeck and make sure any over the counter meds are okay to take while on coumadin--i also get my pt blood work check once a month to make sure my blood is thin enough

Being only 23, my doctors are working to tweak my dosage to keep me between 2-3. After 1 week I was at 4.9. Go back in tomorrow after three days off and then a half dose (2.5 mg). No one here seems to know how to treat someone so young with DVT. I still use my regular shaver, although I take more time and nicks don't bleed too bad. Does anyone else bruise easily? I do.

I started on coumadin on the 4th of March 2007, for some reason it took until 26th march to climb to 1.8.. I have been told about avoiding vit k foods, and that is hard as I am practically vegetarian and 'live' on brocolli, cauliflower, spinach etc.. has anyone else had to drastically change their diet? I get my INR checked again tomorrow, the target is 2.3 - 2.8, at this stage we are still covering with Clexane injections.. looking forward to stopping these as I am bruised and battered and finding it hard after 50 days injecting twice day, to find a clear spot !!. So far I don't feel any different on coumadin and am more relaxed about the treatment.

I have been on Coumadin since March 2007 after a DVT in my upper leg. I was glad to stop the Lovenox as injecting myself was not my idea of a good time. Taking Coumadin has not been a struggle at all except for finding and keeping at the right INR level. I am now able to go every 3 weeks for a blood test. As JEB2007 said, I have the same problem in everyone not knowing how to treat someone so young with a DVT. As for the Coumadin, I bleed very easily now and bruise easily. I also find that cuts and scraps do not heal as quickly. My menstural cycle was heavier when I first started but because I also have PCOS, I rarely actually get my period. No problems other than that. I actually feel psychologically better being on the Coumadin - my doctor said I could come off of it after 3 months of treatment, but I opted to stay on for 6 months.

Shaving.. yikes.. I am scared as hell to shave my legs. Looking pretty hairy here.
So.. as for the Coumdin.. or the Warfarin not sure how long it will take to get the numbers up. I was told I have to be on it for a year. I wish I could just be on the Tinzarparin shots and get the job done...if that is an option.

curious.. avoid Vit K?.. yikes.. what do I need to eat?
