Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Support Group
Deep-vein thrombosis, also known as deep-venous thrombosis or DVT, is the formation of a blood clot ("thrombus") in a deep vein. It can be caused by something preventing blood from circulating or clotting normally. Join the support group if you are coping with DVT and find others who are going through the same challenges.
Running, and excercise in general, is very good to reduce PTS sympotms, so keep it up.
It is however possble that your PTS symptoms may only apparent while running, as you are putting a pressure on the venous system. However,a s you say, this could be some muscular pain.
To separate betwen the following PTS symptoms and some muscular sympotms try the fllowing. Next time you sun, measure you diameter of the ankle and calf of both legs. Inspect the degree of PTS symptoms (if present) such as redness and etc...Go for a run and after the run, measure the diameter of your ankle and calf of both legs and evaluate PTS symptoms (for this you can e.g. google "Villalta scale". Also, evaluate how quickly your pain stops. After running, raise your leg or lie down for a while and see if the pain (or swellign is present) disappear.
If your leg swells and/or your pain disappears after stopping running and elevating the leg, it could be due to the PTS. If you do not get any swelling or other PTS symptoms, and just this pain while running that does not improve markedly wehn elevating the leg, the reason for your leg pain is probably not due to your PTS (e.g could be muscular related..).
These are just suggestions. To be sure it is necessary to have a doctor looking at your leg.
Im just wondering that is the pain is due to e.g. inflammation, one would expect it to persist after stopping running. However, there can be so many causes for calf pain, that only doctor examining your leg can provide reliable diagnosis.
I had aches and pains in my DVT leg up until about two years past diagnosis. That was the point when I could finally get on the treadmill and not automatically drop into a limp. It really did take a while, and it might for you also.
I mean, keep an eye on it. If it suddenly gets a lot worse, it might be worth a trip to the doctor. Otherwise, I'd give it time and see if it improves.
