Hi, I was you back when i had mine in 2010. I always thinking its going to happen again, its swelling maybe its another clot, on and on. I had dvt in my leg and 2 pe in my lung. After effects, swelling, pain, mine was behind my knee as well. So yes its an ongoing thing that may just stay with you. That being said, elevating your leg alot helps, do it every night if you can or when you have a chance. Exercise has been great for me, although it has had me develop some bigger veins in other areas such as my groin area, this was due to the blood flowing to other areas where it couldnt with the damaged areas, i had panic attacks about that too which was nothing to panic about. Exercise it will help you, and will ease your stress. I have a leg that will forever be sort of a pain and a little bigger than the other but when it bothers me i just tell myself this was a reminder to be thankful for everything you have and thankful for that 2nd chance in life. As well to be in the best shape you can be as you are only given one body Live your life, relax, you will be okay. Focus on healthy living and taking time out for you! ((hugs))

I'm 10 years post and I still have occasional symptoms and highly anxious moments about my health. Never be afraid to get something checked out and advocate for yourself. Sometimes advocating for yourself means saying no to the world and taking care of yourself through rest, working out, making good food choices, anything that will improve your mental and physical well being. That being said, you might consider seeing a therapist to help you through your anxiety and panic during this super stressful time. it's not for everyone, but it can be very effective. I'm new in this group, writting from Croatia (Europe), excuse my poor English :). My storry is very similar. I had a blod cloth in my left leg also in december 2016., on martefarin (coumadine) from since, wearing everday compression stockin, quit smoming and starting a new life. Withaut leg pain but had some panic attac.. I'm not keeping well with the situation and I'm often scared of another cloth. Now 5 month after, sometimes have some discofort in the leg and than is vhere the panic starts :( :(

If you are on coumadin (which is well managed), the chance of other another clot is extremely small. Can happen, but is very unlikely.

My pain lasted for about a week. Now I have no pain. Any little pain or weird feeling sends me into a panic and I have to talk myself down.

I had pain in my calf too every now and then, and it would last anywhere from 3-5 days maybe even more. What made it better was rest, and exercise. Sounds like an oxymoron but taking care of your leg and moderately exercising is what makes it feel better for me. If you ever think it might be a new clot, go ahead an get it checked. No shame in that. However, as I too have fears about recurrence and chances of another clot I also remember that there are so many others out there, post clot 2-10 years that still have pain. So it's up to you. If it gets worse and worse and nothing seems to help then I'd definitely get it checked. But first try seeing if rest and elevation help. And also if wearing compression stockings help. Does walking provoke the pain and swelling? Does rest help it?
