1) Has anyone participated in the access pts study? Any complications (bleeding etc)? How unpleasant was the experience?

2)It seems the PI, Dr. garcia, who I see mentioned here a lot, is no longer at Christiana, and I can't seem to find any stories about where he is or what happened. Any idea?

I have had the procedure done. No complications. It is really not that unpleasant and I benefited greatly from it. I was not part of the study. I had it done before there was a study. A couple a months ago the preliminary results were presented and it seems overall to be a very successful procedure. In a few months more results will be published and I have heard they are just as promising. Also, I have heard that because it works more insurance companies are paying for it. My advice has always been that if you have chronic clots and you have PTS that interferes with your life you owe it to yourself to look into it. Dr. Garcia did my procedure. But if you can't see him, there are centers throughout the U.S. doing it now. And hEre is Dr. Garcia's contact information:

Thanks for the response. Was there much recovery time after the hospital stay? Where and how old was your clot(s)? Mine are going on 5 years.

No recovery time actually. They let you out in the afternoon and the next morning you are instructed to walk. It is really important to walk the first month. The procedure does not hurt. My blood clot was about 14 months old. Dr. Garcia has opened up veins that have been occluded for over 20 years. 5 years should be more than doable.
