Death and Complicated Grief Community Group

Has it been months/years, and you're still grieving the death of a loved one? Are the feelings of loss debilitating and not improving? Welcome to complicated grief.

On 10/14/17 my wife of 27 years died in my arms of a PE at the age of 46! I struggle to find happiness in anything, i mean absolutly nothing brings me joy! I have gone to a Grief support group for several months, and think i will stop going. Its a group of about 25, and I am the only man. Of course it feels good to verbalize your feelings with others also in pain, but what is disturbing to me is that there are a handful of people there who are 3-6 years post loss and say they feel no better and in some aspects feel worse! When they share their pain, I feel hopeless in my own "recovery".

I can't sleep, can't focus, cranky as hell, and im keeping it all in.... I did just this week start to take a low dose of Prozac to see if it helps me.

My family consits of her parents and my adult son, all of whom i think are as bad as me!

Anyone else not "getting something" out of support, or do i just have a irrelevant group for my situation?

I am so very sorry for your loss. I loss my fiancé on 9/1/17. I have known him for 31 years. We started out friends, then we got engaged. My sister was killed on Christmas Eve. Right after I loss a child, then he cheated and we broke up. We salvaged our friendship somehow. Years later we got back together only to find out he had stage 4 lung cancer. At the end, the tumors were everywhere impacting is cognitive abilities. We have no children because I wanted to wait for marriage to have children. I also struggle to find happiness in anything, i mean absolutely nothing brings me joy! I did the group support but it did not work for me and that's because we tend to compare our state to others but grief is very individualized. It might take one person a matter of weeks while another years. I can't sleep, can't focus, cranky as hell, and im keeping it all in.... So you are definitely not alone. I took anti-depressants but it never worked for me. My family consist of my siblings which they have never been a support to me and his family which is a reminder I am not really family. So I am in the same boat you are in with no support, this is how I ended up here. I did online counseling which was good but very expensive. I responded because I wanted you to know, you aren't alone. One day at a time. Hang in there.

It is for partners/fiancés, etc., as well.

I lost my father 1 1/2 years ago and feel worse now. I also see no hope but I know he would want me to enjoy life so I get through everyday (barrels) and what keeps me going is the hope that I can be reunited with him in heaven.
