I have always assumed a test after eating certain foods at a set time would be fairly consistent on blood glucose levels, eating 2 boiled eggs at 10am would have the same effect as eating them at 10pm
But I usually eat at all different times but have not really thought that the same food could cause different levels at different times of the day.
Don't know if it does Just seems like another variable to take into account and mess up some of the test conclusions!
I also worked nights for 6 years and this is the 1st I have heard any association with diabetes
Body Clock, Blood Sugar Control Seem Linked
Oct. 9 (HealthDay News) -- A strong link exists between the body's biological clock and blood sugar control, say U.S. researchers who conducted lab experiments on mouse and human stem cells, as well as genetically engineered mice.
"The most surprising part of our findings is that our internal biologic rhythms are embedded directly into another pathway, one that is essential to regulate metabolism," senior author Dr. Brian Feldman, an assistant professor of pediatric endocrinology at the Stanford University School of Medicine, said in a university news release.
The researchers found that daily fluctuations in hormones called glucocorticoids synchronize the biological clock as part of the mechanism for regulating blood sugar levels. The finding may help lead to new ways to control diabetics' blood sugar levels and may improve understanding of why night-shift workers are at risk for obesity and diabetes.
The research may also help find ways to reduce the disabling side effects of glucocorticoid drugs such as prednisone, an immune system-suppressing medication used to treat severe asthma, cancer and other conditions. Side effects include weight gain, poor blood sugar regulation and diabetes.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Eggs don't have carbs first of all..have you tested this theory for us to see if it is true? If not let us know...
It is a known fact that nigh shift worker body clocks are off. They are sleep deprived and generally have a weight problems. Why should they be any different then a day worker as far as diabetes-not.They do spend more time eating as they can't sleep properly. Well you did it so you know.
The point is not about eggs, but to illustrate that the same food eaten at different times can make blood glucose higher of lower at different times of the day according to ones body clock
Goldi - you cannot avoid side effects with any of these drugs. They wreck havoc even with non-diabetics
One can hope diabetes will go away. One can hope the two of you will stop disagreeing on every post...One can hope to win the lotto.
So yes we can all hope. DING DING DING!!!!
