one problem with stuff stored on a computer is unless its dated and more importantly kept up to date you can be getting old, bad information.
If you read something in a book its fairly easy to find out on the inside page when it was printed
Not so easily done when its online.
This guide should read what not to eat for diabetics
I guess in 95 you had to use colour charts and blood glucose monitors were not available.
A diabetic friend of mine, years ago, would weight out every morsel of food he ate, I have never done this
He also use special diabetic plates as I remember with small sections for certain types of food
he also had a timer and at work it would go off when it was time to eat . Always went off when there was any hard work just starting up
used to drive the boss mad.
I used to weigh food at first cause I had a scale. But then as most know I went on Sugar Busters adding some carbs and to me it works, I eat good and my tests are good if I don't cheat.
This is why I think so many are confused, the ADA is telling you eat white rice, potatoes , starches, rolls and when you do your BS goes up for most. But it keeps their jobs doesn't it.
Whats the point of testing blood glucose when the medics are giving out diet sheets recommending bread and potatoes
All those books that recommend juicing as so healthy Now you hear its too concentrated and an unnatural way to take fruit,
I have only heard bad stuff about HFCS They should be avoided like the plague.
And canned soups have too much salt, Every thing has too much salt.
Coconuts were the worst thing to eat a few years back. Now they are on the OK list ,
No wonder people without any apparent health problems just give up and eat whatever.
I'm still on the low GI diet,
But at the back of my mind is the thought when my weight is down I be able to go back to eating normally
as if I won't then, pile it all on again!
The most salt in the average diet comes from bread, and breakfast cereals, Food makers put salt in just about everything
Even sweet things seem to also be full of salt, I don't know wither its used for its preservative propertied or taste,
Yes web sites are usually bang up to date , I was referring to some data based information, As my doc's diabetic advice, looked like it had been scanned into the computer from an old 95 advice book.
Also if you read stuff which has been scanned you often will get the date of the scan, but no reference to the article date.
Every diabetic diet and magazine I have read are NOT diabetic friendly and I wonder where they are allowed to publish these recipes. People are generally savvy today and can't believe they would use these recipes.
But pretty much everything else is filled with garbage to preserve it so the answer is don't buy anything frozen or canned.
Plant a garden, grow your own vegies and catch fish for your dinner!!!
Simple right? (laughing)
