You mean you have a vertical grill on your oven top? I was going to buy one of those when I moved here but they told me it had to be on an outside wall. Man was I upset! I had my heart set on that oven all for the grill and two ovens in it, small and larger it would have been wonderful.
Yes, Arline.. my crock pot is small. I have a very small kitchen too and it just fits in the corner of my counter. You could put it on the top of your cupboards if you wanted to. They really are great and like Hath says, the meat just melts in your mouth.
I would LOVE one of those vertical grills too, Sunny! I guess thats what happens when you have condo living, eh?
a vertical grill is exactly what it says it is electric and grills both sides at once adn all the fat goes into the tray at the bottom. And if you put the fat side up it bastes the meat as it goes down - great meat. We use it for chops, sausages and meat/hamburger patties. Can use it for steak too but as we both like ours different ways we usually use the pan or the BBQ for them.
A vertical grill is really good when you dont want a lot of fat left in your meat. It just stays on the bottom of the grill.. it is great.. wish I had one :)
The broiler, you get lots of fat in it. Why wouldnt you want to grill it in a grill that gets rid of it?
When you use the real vertical grills putting the fat on the upper side of the grill it is - well more or less self basting. We had chaps last night and sausages cooking in it tonight and they were delicious.
And while George cooks both side this one (picked up for $20 at the market) seems to be just so much nicer. Have not seen one in the stores for a while though so maybe like a lot of things they have been thought to be "old" and have been phased out as pressure cookers and crock-pots were for many years.
They have returned so maybe the grills will as well.
I hope so - but for now I have mine and I love it.
I have a GF grill, a real small one. I wish I was him cause I had that idea too and I am poor and he is rich cause he put it into play.Aghhhhh
Hathani I thought you meant the grills on the oven tops. I wasn't sure buy knew you didn't mean a GF grill. They have so many grills out now it is crazy. I gotta ask..what are chaps?????Don't cowboys wear them?
LOL
I used to love my pressure cooker but it always scared me. I saw one blow up with my friend so my life wasn't the same using it after that. My husband used to laugh at me and say why are you standing back there (cause I was hiding from the cooker) Lol Now they have the electric ones on Tv I see. I have no need for that as there is only me now but in the day it was great for fast cooking and good.
I seldom use my broiler anymore with the grills.
Arline you can't cook outside in the winter???? I mean here you could but NY it is freezing and snowing a long time there. I can just see you out there with hats, gloves, coats and broiling a steak> LOL
We cook outside in the winter here, Sunny. We use the bbq all year long. You just go out, click it to turn it on, come back in and get the stuff ready, run out , put it on and leave it until you have to go out again. That is when it is really cold. A lot of the time, it is really nice, like it has been the last few weeks when the chinook comes in.
I thought a pressure cooker and a crock pot were the same thing.
I thought it was a vertical on the counter top grill too.
I think Hath meant a chOp not chAp. Hath, what in a chop or sausage would require basting?
oh yes.. probably pork chops? I thought she didnt eat pork
