I LOVE chef Ramsey. I watch him all the time. I prefer a steak that is bbq. A filet mignon would be especially good on the bbq. I think. I love it with sauted onions and mushrooms. Put a little tobasco or bbq sauce on it and have it with ketchup.. mmm good!

YEA Barbi's as the Ozzie's say are best, but the weather needs to be good.I have not tried his restaurant He seems to find it impossible to get passed the letter F on the Menu.
If he spoke to some of the cooks I have know he be run through with a Christmas tree any time of the year!

The butcher told me that "searing' the steak holds the juices inside, and makes it taste better. Then grill it to the degree you like it. I am so old, and didn't know that about 'searing' the steak, lol. Guess you can tell I don't eat much steak. Not because I don't like the taste, as I love the taste, I just don't know how to cook it so that it taste good. My husband doesn't grill out either, so, if one of my sons' is not around to grill it for me, just don't have it, sigh....

I guess to sear it and then cook it slowly would be the best way to do it. I always cook my beef slow and cook it all day. It becomes so tender, you could cut it with a fork. You need patience and time, I think :)

We bbq even in the winter here, Lost. It is really nice to have a nice bbq steak or hamburger in the m iddle of the winter.. mmmm

I learned to get a heavy fry pan with a little butter and olive oil and get that pan flaming hot, throw the steak or fish on it and don't touch it. Let it sear the side cooking for 1-2 min. (depending on size of steak or fish. The fish will get a nice crusty edge which I like and the steak seals shut. Then turn it over adding a little more oil and butter and do the same.
That is if you do it inside. If your steaks are thick after searing you can put under the broiler and finish it off how you want it.
This is so good and I had to learn that about two years ago from a cook who was making me dinner. We tend to move everything looking and turning, not good. The secret is do not touch it! And HOT HOT pan! HUNGRY AGAIN!!!!!!

Goldi - how in the world do you cook a steak all day. Maybe a roast or brisket not steak. I just put it on the grille and turn it when its browned and thats it. OR put it in the broiler.

I put onions sauted and mushrooms and the steak in the oven at about 200F all day. I may add a little bbq sauce, or some spice. It comes out really tender. It IS possible to cook it this way, Arline. I agree, it is nicer bbqed, but if that isnt possible, in the oven will give you a good steak. Keep it covered though.

A steak all day long? I never heard of such a thing either, Why would you do that to a steak. I can see a cheaper cut of meat to make it tender unless your talking about round steak which is like a roast???

No.. TBone or fillet mignon, I would definetely bbq. If I have a cheaper, tougher cut of steak, like round as you say, then I put it in the oven on a real slow heat all day long.. OR.. I just thought.. that is something you could put in the crock pot too, lost

I don't buy round steak or top round for london broil. For london broil I use flank steak. I could never picture a steak made in the oven. It would be like a roast and ruin a good steak which has to be brown, I had an aunt years ago who made chicken and roasts in the microwave. The color was so horrible I couldn't even look at it

I already said I don't care for flank steak at all. I buy top of the round for pepper steaks or stir frys or roulon. But yes, round you can do it like a roast too goldie in the crock. Funny i thought you were saying you put a steak in the oven all day haha I was like think what????

Yes, I do a roast really really slow in the oven, usually most of the day. It comes out really tender. I do a round in the crock pot, although you could do a roast. I just like it better in the oven.

Just looked up a crockpot. Its HUGE., I had never seen one before. Its almost the size of my kitchen and very expensive.
