Dealing with Diabetes2 and remembering Goldi Community Group
A support group for individuals with Type2 diabetes. Encouragement, empathy, advice, and personal experiences from members dealing with the illness. A friendly environment with compassion and support as our main objective.
I have started on the Metformin and also a statin and mentioned a low dose asprin I decided to pass on that 2 new tablets seem enough to be going on with.
My cholestero level is ok but it seems they give everyone over 40 with diabeties statins now
Also a leaflet about HBA1c
its measure in percentages now
7% or under is great
8-10% is A little high
10-12% is high
12% and over is very high
I have always thought that the A1C was measured like that...7 or under is good. Seven is heaven, as my doctor says
I guess that is just the Canadian way
LOST, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS DRIED FROZEN VEG. IF THEY'RE DRIED THEY'RE DRIED (AS IN 'NOT WET')
STATINS ARE FOR HIGH CHOLESTEROL. BE CAREFUL. THEY ARE POWERFUL. AND HAVE LOTS OF SIDE EFFECTS. I CANT TAKE THEM AT ALL.
I HAD MENTIONED THIS A LONG TIME AGO BUT ITS WORTH MENTIONING AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO GO FROM 20 MG LIPITOR TO 5 MG. I PUT 1-1/2 TBS RAW BUCKWHEAT IN 3 TSP YOGURT EVERY MORNING AND YES, IT LOWERS CHOLESTEROL - SIMILAR TO OATMEAL BUT OATMEAL RAISES MY BS TOO MUCH.
I FIND NOT ALL ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE WORKS FOR EVERYONE. YOU HAVE TO GO BY TRIAL AND ERROR. CINNAMON AND CHROMIUM DID NOTHING FOR ME.
I MIGHT TRY THE BUCKWHEAT AND SEE IF IT HELPS THE CHOLESTEROL. I CANT TAKE STATINS AT ALL, SO I REALLY NEED SOMETHING THAT WORKS.
