I assume you are talking about a cup of Joe, as in Jolting Joe Dimaggio.
This was how it was always made in England up until the invention of the Tea Bag, When standards started to slip.
I bet old Queen Victoria would be turning in her grave to see how the Tea bag has taken over
I mean can you see the Japanese using Tea Bags for their Tea ceremony it just would not be correct
Posh tea
In the house of a true middle class person will be a collection of different types of tea. However, not one teabag will be present, for this is what the posh call "real" tea.
Posh tea is the leaves themselves. Oddly, its the same stuff that goes in the bags, but poncy folk insist it tastes better without the bag. I wonder why ?
For posh tea you will need a teapot, and a tea-strainer. Hardcore poshes will have several strainers. To make posh tea, simply follow these instructions.
Take the teapot and empty out the contents from the previous tea session. This consists of a ton of damp tea that gets everywhere and just won't go down the sink properly. Eventually, the tea that does make it down the sink without sticking to one of the many items of crockery already there will build up in the sink trap and require the services of a plumber, or sink plunger. If you haven't used the teapot for a while, and you are lazy, there will be some sweet smelling mould that you will need to remove with bleach. Of course if you truly are posh you will have washed the pot up after the last cup of tea and therefore won't be familiar with this problem.
Boil the (electric) kettle.
Pour some water in the pot and wash it around. This is known as "warming the pot" and is a good idea.
Empty this water.
Spoon some of the tea into the pot. Have one heaped teaspoon per person, and one "for the pot".
Pour in some freshly boiled water.
Wait for the tea to brew.
Once brewed, decide "who will be mother". This means "who will pour the tea" and is a nostalgic reference to middle-class Victorian England.
Place the strainer over a cup and fill the cup from the teapot through it. Top the cup with milk. At some point the strainer will become totally full with damp messy tea leaves. Simply go into the kitchen and pathetically try to remove the tea by sadly scraping the strainer with a knife over the bin/sink.
This tea tastes very much like a cuppa, only it takes much longer to make and requires far more hasslesome cleaning.
but now politicians tell you any old tosh about what they will do when in office and procedure to so just what they want
I can remember George bush ( Read my lips no new taxes) As soon as he got elected up they go.
All politicians lie because they either can't do what the electorate want, or by the time they are elected are home and dry. So don't care
Just tell the electorate what they want to hear. In my opinion they are mostly feathering their own nest
Its the huge corporations who really call the shots on the things that matter
And look at the mess we are in.
chucking the Tea overboard was understandable but it would have been healthier to stick to Coffee rather than adopting Soda's
The industrialisation of food is killing us
I have only seen the extent of it since being diabetic Its not easy to buy food that has not been modified sprayed with something or messed about in some way
Playing god with genetics, can be a very dangerous thing and there does not seem to be any checks and balances When modified food can be introduce on farms without anyone saying Boo
Once these huge corporations can control the seeds used for the main crops they will have control as you need to go to them to but your farm supplies
The European Union has more of less banned GM foods for this reason
when GM food was introduced a few years ago customers just boycotted it
They soon got the message
From an old Cynic
I can remember when all the workers from Flint were protesting about jobs moving to Mexico for the cheap labour
It made no difference they just upped and left, Now I hear they are asking for the same Tax payers to bail them out.
Globalisation may have its benefits but no one talked about the down side. Our car companies hit the dust in the seventies
The USA and UK will never be able to compete with Indian and China when their wage costs are so low
Yes your can have cheap goods
but do you want the unemployment that goes with it
In the UK we are importing labour from everywhere to do the rock bottom pay jobs
Most of the available joba seem to be at the checkout, stacking shelves or flipping Burgers
If Gm had genetically Modifies their cars production from things that looked like aircraft carriers to the smaller more fuel efficient smaller ones they may have seem off the Japanese
Now if they could make a wheat crop that did not contain starch of produce glucose in the body then maybe it would be worthwhile.
Me, I'm off to brew a nice cup of Tea and relax
Cheers
When all the workers in India a China start demanding a decent wage prices are going to go up
We have turned ourselves into a low wage economy so where is the money coming from.
Once all the skilled jobs have gone too. the only jobs will be admin or the service industries
One deleima
Then the only way to get them to grow stuff will be government subsidies a la French Farmers who are paid to grow stuff which is often not cost effective to harvest so left to rot
When you see how much water is used to make say 100 or so ears of corn ok if its coming out of the sky
its when it comes from a hosepipe its a problem
To make one pint of beer take gallons and gallons of water but its OK water is free
Eventually when you go into things you soon see nothing is for free
its just often someone else is paying the cost
they are putting in water metes in new houses in the UK once that happens they can stop just jacking up the prices as in the electricity gas. if a wet little island like the UK needs to use water meters
Many parts of the world are going to get even more drought like as demand increases
Hey someone upstream is siphoning off all our water. it won't only be oil wars we can add water to the list
I woken up feeling as dry a the sahara dessert
And felt like a good Sunday complaint about things was in Order
Time for another Tea
Cheers
