Dating after Divorce Community Group
After divorce it's hard to jump back into the dating scene. This group will help support each other as we get back out there in the dating world.

When nobody is interested, aloneness is the only path available. Online if you don't look like, or are, a celebrity or model, forget it. Time passes but nothing changes.

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...

I consider myself to be decent in my looks against what's out there. Women in my past have convinced me that I'm at the very least well into the average spectrum (lol). Anyway it's given me enough confidence to at least get out and start trying. If we don't push ourselves to get back into dating, we'll gain nothing. Heck, I've really not dated that much (been so picky that most of my relationships last years) but this time I'm forcing myself to be more open to my choices for awhile. Not to rack up numbers, but to have more of an experience with a bigger variety of women and to hopefully become more focused not only in what's important to me now (it's changed as I've changed through the years) but also in the women I've dated as their likes and preferences are different in this new age bracket I'm finding myself dating. I miss being in a couple like crazy but I want to do this right. To do that I'm trying to take it slow, smart and enjoy the journey along the way. One thing that's always proven itself any time I've dated is to never rush into things. I hope this helps...stay positive...things will work out.
forget the middle sentence assessment:
"When nobody is interested, aloneness is the only path available. ... Time passes but nothing changes."
^^^ FACT since 2006
On OKCupid, no matter what I type, it's IGNORED. 99%
Seems to me I have to stop self-sabotaging myself with this whole dating scene or else my curiosity and hormones will devour me.
Just a question: Do you think maybe you might have something inside thats holding you back to saying yes to some of the possibilities that are online?
I too think I've got some qualities that make it hard to find a perfect match. My "ummm you killed a person...that is wrong and that is a dealbreaker" attitude is so opposite of my overall easygoing demeanor-LOL. Call it old school but I still believe in basic morals and treating others as you'd want treated-lol. Over time I've learned to stop chasing after the idea of a forever mate. The bigger picture is to have a happy life surrounded by good people in whatever form that happens to take.
GeocacherNY-your "...nothing changes" quote screams that maybe the problem isn't so much with others but maybe it's time to look at yourself and your own priorities. I had to do a serious attitude adjustment myself and it's made such a positive change. In fact I'd almost say it might have been the final piece in my full recovery from divorce. I'm not being critical but rather just pointing out weather it's your fault or someone else's-the outcomes you say just turn out the same. It's time to consider approaching things differently in the future to help get different results. You already know no changes gets no new results. What have you got to lose? Good luck :)
Thanks for the comments... and now it's months/year(s) later & still the same... 'nothing changes'. I haven't met anyone new in a long time 'in person' & gave up on online, the very few that seem real don't even reply.
Maybe if I didn't have MS I'd be able to go places where I don't/can't now.
I travel the country for 4-6 months a year in my RV & don't even meet potentials anymore.
The only thing I have going for me is my relationship ALONE, with Me, Myself & I. I'm not even sure I want to have another anymore. I heard about MGTOW & Incels turning Volcel. The world has changed so much by the time I got divorced & then got worse & worse the last few years. I used to think it was me but met many others I didn't think would have a problem meeting others & they have the SAME predicament.
And so it goes.................
Purpose is so important & powerful. Not been dating because I’m legally married, although I filed for divorce from my spouse as early as 2019, as a result of infidelity, which is enough evidence of irreconcilable differences, along mainly with his attitude of all or nothing, which is his abusive attitude.
But I know Love (the Greatest Love possible on earth) is for me & with me as I weigh it out in the best way possible.
