You are seriously questioning whether you are ready, which in my book means you aren't. Head and heart need to be pretty much as one, otherwise, you cant give a new relationship the effort it needs to suceed.

I have emotional issues from my marriage which are causing me distress in my current relationship but I can see they are not because I havent taken the time to grieve the loss.

There is no hard fast answer. It took me four months and meeting a wonderful man to feel ready. It takes some people several years!!

Thanks Hazi, I did feel I was ready to go dating and that I had turned a corner, but now I'm feeling back to square one, I could be partly the depression or perhaps I have not really grieved the loss, of the marriage.

I will have to give it more time

My one (and only) blind date qualifies as my disaster...back in '96 I took out a sister of a friend...for starters the sister had NO idea I would call her because her sister FORGOT TO TELL HER I WAS CALLING...next came the actual date-we were supposed to see a very cool movie (I forgot which) but somehow arrived too late...we had to watch JOE'S APARTMENT, the movie about a guy who has talking roaches living in his apartment...needless to day (1) no more blind dates for this guy and (2) no more movies about talking roaches...so here's to future dates!

I have to agree, if you are still wondering then you aren't ready. Most days I feel ready but then that creeping feeling saying no you aren't rears it's ugly head.....be patient, good things come to those who wait. I didn't even consider dating until about 1 month ago, so that would be 11 months separated. I do realize some rebound quicker and some slower, but listen to your mind and your heart and you will know when it's right.

I've been seperated and divorced from my former husband for over a year and I don't even feel close to dating again---too afraid I'll make the same mistake and set myself up for more loneliness and hurt. So for me it's going to take a long time before I venture out hunting for the next man and frankly it will probably never happen again. I've been there, done that and I'n so done.
Too many disapointments and pain in my life.

It is difficult... the person I saw has given me the cold shoulder, I am trying to remain friends I think if I could do that I could wait for romance to happen or not, if it doesn't then at least I've gained a friend. The only problem is knowing what the other person wants, they might even think I'm a stalker.

i went on a date and he was staring at another woman 4 ages.so i said do you fancy her.he said she s o.k.so i went to the toilet wrote his number down.gave it to her and walked out the pub.lol.that was a few year ago.

I had a meet up with a guy who plays in a local band. This was my first venture into "out there". He's handsome, intelligent and funny. I said hello, gave him a warm hug (which he totally liked) but he wouldn't look me in the eye and talked to everyone else in the place. After finishing their set, he came and sat with me for a little bit but was still engaging with alot of other people. Okay, it's his gig and he's at work...I get it. Then, he slips down in the booth a little and lays his head on my shoulder and takes a mini nap.....eeeuuuuw!!
He calls me the following Saturday and we chat for about 30 minutes or so. Then he tells me the real reason he called was to tell me he's not going to pursue me romantically!!! WTF??? I wasn't interested in him that way, either. Then he gives me the reason. I only met 3 of his 4 "criteria"...the fourth being, I'm not sarcastic enough? Dude, you didn't even talk to me long enough to determine that. ARROGANT or what?
I was cordial but, later that evening, alot of my rejection buttons got pushed. After all, my ex left me for another woman after 30 years of marriage. That was a learning experience, my friends. I know I'm not ready yet. I shoulda give that guy a swift kick in the butt, really!!! What a jerk. He's 50 and has never been married. Another red flag. If a person hasn't been able to be in any long-term relationship or has had many short-term relationships (serial monogamy), I don't think it's a promising prospect!!!! Live and learn!!!!

Well here are my two cents. No, dating after just 3 months is probably not a good idea. I know some folks will disagree with me but I think giving yourself at least one year to grieve and to think about where things went wrong in your relationship is a good idea. What you don't want to do is still feel hurt and wounded and date someone. It isn't fair to the woman or you. The danger is that you will settle for someone who may not be compatable with you and you are on the rebound.

Go through the sorrow, sadness and when you feel whole again, then date. Feelinbg lonely will not kill you. You will learn so much about yourself when you're not trying to kill the pain with another relationship.

That is my take on dating after divorce.

I've got a good one... I went to a mystery party where you act our roles, read a script, and try to figure out who committed the crime (like live version of Clue). My character was supposed to flirt with a female character played by a pregnant Chinese woman sitting next to her husband. Well, I was telling this funny story to a woman the night before our first date and my kids (who were supposed to be asleep) came rushing down the stairs in an uproar, convinced that I was dating a pregnant married woman who was going to be their stepmother. Ahhhh the joys of being a divorce single parent of little girls... lol (my date fortunately thought it was hilarious, especially since the kids thought I was on the phone with the pregnant lady and wanted to talk to her)

Well, I won't give advice on if you should be dating-that's your call, but, I have so many funny and scary dating stories. The scareist/funniest was a 2nd date-he was a tax accountant-so he should be normal? We went out once, had all the precautions I had a safe person, met in a public place, blah , blah. I wasn't really intrested in him, but he walked me to my car and we chatted more-and one quick hug goodbye. we continued to talk, and he asked me if he could pick me up and take me to Lava Hot Springs. Which is a long drive through a lot of nothing to sit in hot water in our swimming suits. I agreed but warned him I have a tendenacy to fall asleep on long drives. He picks me up, and we drive to Lava-seems harmless. Once we are in our suits, he keeps pulling me to him and telling me he wants to take me home and spank me with his hair brush-uh no! the first time, I was thinking he would get the message, but he persisted. Then it dawns on me, I am out of cell phone range, have to drive back through some pretty bleak country with this guy. As we are driving back-he makes the comment that he thougth I would be asleep by now-lol, no way was that going to happen. I made it home, got inside quick, and was thankful that my bottom was not bruised from the experience.
